Read Mark 9:14-37
This Scripture is a strong reminder of the power of faith, and the importance of trusting and believing in God at all times, no matter what the situation may be. By faith, all things are possible.
This man had asked Jesus’ disciples to cast out this spirit, but they were unable to do so. When he sees Jesus, he runs to him and asks “if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us!” Jesus responds in the next verse (23), “If You can? All things are possible to him who believes.” Jesus casts out the evil spirit, and the boy was healed. The disciples couldn’t understand why they were unsuccessful, and Jesus says to them in verse 29, “This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer.”
In life, we have to have faith. God is always in control, and He can indeed move mountains. Sometimes, we want to take matters into our own hands and try to handle things on our own. That’s when we mess up.
Faith allows us to cast our cares on Him, and let Him work it out. Faith is strengthened through prayer and fasting. Communicating with God daily about our joys, our concerns, our problems, our desires, whatever is on our mind...and then taking the time to listen intently to God’s response, and His guidance.
The disciples were too busy arguing over who was the greatest while they were in that crowd. They tried to handle things all on their own, and failed. The man came to Jesus for help. “I do believe;” he said, “help my unbelief.” Faith set the boy free.
So no matter what you might be going through, have faith, and know that God is in control.
PRAYER: Lord, help us to keep You first in our lives. Help us to trust and obey You, and be faithful disciples. Guide us in our faith walk, and help us to grow in faith. We honor and praise you Lord, for You are worthy of all the praise!
