Read Mark 6:48-56
This scripture asks us a very vital question that should be asked throughout our Christian journey “Is the true Jesus revealed in your life and are you faithful to Him”?
Mark notes that the disciples were terrified when they saw Jesus walking on the water. What were they really terrified of? The storm and the fear of drowning or was it the fear of coming face to face with a ghost? Not just any ghost, but one that looks like the same Jesus that just finished feeding over 5000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. Mark is quick to point out that they didn’t quite believe what to make of Jesus, that their hearts were “hardened”, therefore, they still didn’t believe that he was going to be the savior of mankind.
Was Jesus really intending to “pass them by”? Was he planning on leaving them in their troubles even though, he came to the sea because He knew they were in trouble? No brothers and sisters, Jesus’ intention was for them and us to see Him in His glory and recognize that He is Lord in flesh. To accept that He is OUR SAVIOR and that once we come to accepting His out stretched hand, our eyes will be opened to see God walking amongst them and us. Jesus calmed them down by saying “Take heart, it is I…” What a way to connect the Lord of their forefathers and the burning bush experience to the Lord that was standing in front of them now walking on water and feeding thousands of people with very little.
We need the Jesus who lived the life we could NOT live, so He could die the death WE SHOULD HAVE died, in order to grant us the grace to live eternally in fellowship with Him!
Amen.
