Read Mark 6:30-44
No matter where Jesus went, the people followed him. We all know the story, with five loaves and two fish, Jesus feeds the multitude and has leftovers!
Mark says the people are like sheep without a shepherd, searching for someone to lead them, aimless without a leader. They are hungry for the word as well as for food and Jesus gives them both with leftovers!
As we journey through Lent, let us not be wandering aimlessly but with purpose to hear and feed on the word of God through the son, Jesus. Let us prepare ourselves by reading, studying and praying so that when Easter comes we will truly be ready to celebrate the resurrection. Let us share our “leftovers” with those we meet, those who are wandering aimlessly without a shepherd.
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for the food you provide for our bodies and our souls. May we be prepared for the resurrection experience and celebrate your risen son.
Amen.
