Read Mark 2:1-12
OUR JOURNEY OF FAITH
Jesus was preaching in a house in Capernaum; the bible tells us in this passage that there were so many people gathered in and around the house that there was no more room. For a paralyzed man trying to get close enough to Jesus, this should have been a hopeless situation and the end of the story. However, the paralyzed man in this story was highly favored; he had the help of four men who were willing and determined to get him to Jesus so he may be healed. We don't know the names or the relationships of the four men to the paralyzed man. Were they his relatives? friends? neighbors? does it matter? They were four people who showed compassion on their fellow human being. They were also four men who had very strong faith in the healing power of Jesus Christ; so much so that they agreed collectively to take an unconventional risk of cutting through the roof (by any means necessary) to get the man to Jesus. The man was healed because verse 5 tells us that "Jesus seeing how much faith they had"
Sometimes in life we find ourselves in situations where we feel totally hopeless; much like the paralyzed man in this story, we know we cannot do anything by our own strength. We know we need help, but everything in our circumstance reflects only our helplessness and we begin to feel that there's no way out.
It is at times like these that we must remember as Christians that we serve a Mighty God, nothing shall be impossible with Him. We must pray for more faith, a stronger belief in a father who has continuously been there for us. Our God has promised never to leave nor forsake us. He will touch the hearts of all the people needed to help us in our time of need.
In the words of my favorite singer - Nicole C. Mullen”when I call on Jesus all things are possible, I can mount on wings like eagles and soar, when I call on Jesus mountains are gonna fall, for He will move heaven and earth to come rescue me when I call"
We must also allow God to use us in His service, as one of the four men in our story. We must look out for others and be ready to help even if it is in a small way. It is most important that we continue to pray for one another and join together in our faith because we were never created to handle tough times alone.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father thank you for being our refuge and strength; and our ever present help in trouble.
